About us

Willard CRC is in the heart of Celeryville, a small rural village in North-central Ohio. Our church was founded in 1896 by Dutch immigrants who settled here to farm the rich swamp soil - ideal for growing green leafy vegetables - hence, Celeryville.

OUR NAME

The name CHRISTIAN identifies us as those who belong to Christ, our only Savior.

The name REFORMED identifies us as those who believe that God is Lord over all and seek to serve Him in every part of life.

The name CHURCH identifies us as those who have been united by faith to that worldwide community headed by Christ Jesus.

OUR DENOMINATION

The Christian Reformed Church traces her history back to Christ through the historic Protestant Reformation of the 16th century and especially to Geneva, Switzerland, and the work of John Calvin. Her history in America began in 1857. By the grace of God, the CRC now reaches across the North American continent and into many foreign countries as well. People of all races and classes have found its fellow-ship meaningful, full of vision, and serious about the scripture.

OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT

We are a church serving the Willard area, committed to the glory of God, believing that Jesus Christ is LORD of all walks of life. This "world and life view" expresses itself in a program where Bible-centered preaching is the focus of our worship and where we are committed to providing personal individual growth through member care, education, evangelism, and social action so that many people become disciples of Jesus Christ. We encourage members to faithfully share in the nurturing and serving fellowship of the church and to live obediently before Him in the world.
